Isaiah Chapter 32

  • Isaiah 32:1 Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.
  • 2.And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.
  • 3 And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken.
  • 4 The heart also of the rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly.
  • 5 The vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful.
  • 6 For the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practice hypocrisy, and to utter error against the LORD, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.
  • 7 The instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.
  • 8 But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.
  • 9 Rise up, ye women that are at ease; hear my voice, ye careless daughters; give ear unto my speech.
  • 10 Many days and years shall ye be troubled, ye careless women: for the vintage shall fail, the gathering shall not come.
  • 11 Tremble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye careless ones: strip you, and make you bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins.
  • 12 They shall lament for the teats, for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine.
  • 13 Upon the land of my people shall come up thorns and briers; yea, upon all the houses of joy in the joyous city:
  • 14 Because the palaces shall be forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, a joy of wild asses, a pasture of flocks;
  • 15 Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest.
  • 16 Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.
  • 17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
  • 18 And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;
  • 19 When it shall hail, coming down on the forest; and the city shall be low in a low place.
  • 20 Blessed are ye that sow beside all waters, that send forth thither the feet of the ox and the ass.

Breaking down the verses:

  • Isaiah 32:1 Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.

This chapter starts out with a king that reigns in righteousness. This will be the future reign of Jesus Christ who will rule the earth with righteousness. He will rule by the Holy Spirit of God and not in the weakness of men. Nothing will be hidden from Him who knows all things. All will dwell safely and the earth will be at peace. Those that rule under Him will be fair, just and honest. No dirty politics and deception. Oh how I long for that day. I'm so tired of politics, lies, deceit, filth, cheating, overtaxing, evil speaking, and dishonesty.

We have laws now that can take away the land of the elderly who get so they cannot pay taxes anymore. They pay taxes all their lives and support the schools and when they fall into hard times and cannot pay the property taxes any more, their land can be confiscated. The government even makes it seem like it’s the fault of the people for being delinquent. In reality it’s the fault of the government for making such unfair laws that oppress the poor. This will not be under the reign of Christ. Everything will be fair and impartial.

Princes ruling in righteousness no doubt refers to resurrected saints who will reign and rule along with Christ.

  • Isaiah 32:3 And the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken.

I believe that verse 3 will occur to all both spiritually and physically. There will be healing physically. Jesus demonstrated that when He walked on the earth and went about healing the sick. Eyes were opened and ears were healed. I believe this also pertains to spiritual healing as well. We will begin to understand the truth and seek the Lord. Spiritual darkness shall vanish.

  • Isaiah 32:5 The vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful.

The vile person and churl: Evil churlish persons will not be called liberal or generous. They will be exposed for who they really are. No evil will be hidden. No sins will be covered. Everything will be out in the open. There will be no deception.

  • Isaiah 32:10 Many days and years shall ye be troubled, ye careless women: for the vintage shall fail, the gathering shall not come.

The days before the coming rule of Christ will be troublesome and cruel. Judgment will be poured out.

  • Isaiah 32:15 Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest.

The Sprit will be poured out over Israel. Right now they are in darkness because they do not believe in the Lord Jesus nor recognize Him as savior. There is already a remnant in Israel where the Spirit of the Lord has already been poured out, but one day it will happen on the whole nation. What a time that will be. After the tribulation period, their eyes shall see and their ears shall hear. They will receive understanding and repent as a nation. After this the Spirit of God will be poured out among them. After they receive the fullness of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit they will be restored to being a blessing to the whole earth. They will be fruitful and abound.

  • Isaiah 32:18 And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;

God is not through dealing with the nation of Israel. His promise to Abraham will take place unhindered. They will dwell in peace.

We who believe in Jesus can have a part in the new reign of Christ by coming to Him by faith now and partaking of His righteousness. We must recognize that we can never be righteous ourselves. None of our good works will amount to anything apart from Christ. We must repent of sins and receive the righteousness of Jesus Christ. He was the only one to live without sin and the only one whose death can count for a payment for sin because He did not sin Himself.

Jesus was innocent of any sin and did not deserve to die. His death can now count for us. Now we who deserve the sentence of death do not have to pay for our own sins if we believe and accept what Jesus did on our behalf. By faith we are saved. It’s not good deeds that take us to heaven and make us to be able to partake in the coming kingdom. It is faith in Christ. Simple child like faith. Then we work to glorify Him and tell others of this great plan of salvation offered to the whole world. Sometimes it may seem that only a few believe but we must not stop believing outselves.
