Philppians 1 2 3 4

The city of Philippi is in eastern Macedonia around ten miles from the Aegean Sea inland. The city was named after King Phillip the 3rd of Macedonia. Phillip was the father of Alexander the Great. It was a Roman city and a military post.

The church in Philippi was founded by Paul as God directed him. He had the help of his beloved brethren, Silas, Timothy and Luke. The church sent Paul financial help several times to help the struggling church in Jerusalem. Paul also visited them at least twice to make sure they were still following the will of God.
