The Messiah - Part 3
The promise of the coming salvation for mankind was extended through Isaac and it was meant to be everlasting. To really understand this we need to search the scriptures and seek the Lord for our eyes of understanding to be open. Many who look for the Messiah to come can miss it if their hearts are looking for material wealth and victory over enemies without first seeking that their hearts are cleansed from sin and have a right relationship with God. This is why I believe that the Jewish people as a nation, have rejected Jesus Christ as their Messiah at the time when Jesus lived among them. They were looking for material blessings and victory over the enemies that surrounded them instead of looking for salvation and being saved from sin. The law was given to them to show that we all have sinned and all possess a sinful nature. It was a school master to bring all to the Messiah and show all that a savior was needed. The law could not give us freedom from sin and make us right with God. We would have to keep the law in every point and not fail once in our entire lifetime to be saved by keeping the law. This was impossible except with Jesus Christ, the only mortal man who kept the law in every point. This is why His death counted as a perfect sacrifice for the sins of all who believe in Him because He didn't die for breaking the law or for His own sins because He didn't have any sin. He actually suffered in our place. We have to believe and receive this in order for His death to count for us.
Sarah tried to help God's promise to come to pass by giving her bondwoman to Abraham since she (Sarah) could no longer bear children. She was acting on faith but in the natural not the supernatural. She didn't take into account that God is able to bring about the impossible. This caused enmity between the seed of Ishmael and the seed of Isaac until this day. However, God chose the seed of Isaac to be the seed that brought forth the Messiah, the one to bring salvation to those who believe. This Messiah is not just for the seed of Isaac but for all people of the whole world. Our part is just believing this for our salvation. The devil or Satan also believes that Jesus is the Christ of course but he doesn't believe in Jesus Christ unto salvation. We can believe someone exists and still miss salvation. I believe that Hitler existed but I don't believe in what Hitler stood for so I don't really believe in Hitler although I believe he was a real person. To believe in Jesus as the Christ means to believe he existed but also that He came to save us from sin and give us eternal life. To believe in Jesus means to believe what He taught and stood for. To believe in Jesus means to repent and turn from sin and receive the Holy Spirit Jesus gives in order to live a life pleasing to Him. In other words to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ means to receive Him in our lives not just believe that He once existed and walked the earth. Fulfillment of the prophecy that Christ came from the seed of Isaac:
So we see Jesus came to us through the seed of Adam, then 10 generations later through Noah. 21 generations then until Abraham. Then the seed of the Messiah came through Isaac we see in Luke 3:34.
God even tempted Abraham to offer Isaac as a sacrifice. Abraham still believed that God was going to use Isaac and could raise him from the dead. We read in Genesis that God sent an angel to stop Abraham from killing his son and provided a substitute sacrifice which was a ram. Abraham was willing to give up his own son whom he loved and cherished and waited for so long but Isaac was not to be that sacrifice. God gave up His own Son and allowed Him to become the supreme sacrifice for the sins of all mankind. Jesus became a flesh and blood human man that was to suffer and die in place of us dying in our own sin. He took the punishment for our sins. When we believe and receive this great gift from God it brings us back into the relationship with God the Father that was lost in the Garden of Eden. DC
