Psalm Chapter 119 Part H

Conclusion

SCHIN

  • Psalm 119:16 . Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.

Since the writer claims that he is persecuted but in spite of the persecution he still stands in awe of the word of God. This tells me that perhaps the persecution is because of his stand on the word of God. The bible says that all godly in Christ will suffer persecution. The world does not like the truth. The world loves to live apart from God. God reminds them that they have sinned. This is why the world and the word never mix. The world may accept a false religion but it will not love truth and true righteousness. Jesus said that many would be offended in Him. That has proven true. But we are to take heart:

  • Matthew 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
  • 11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
  • 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Those that choose God rather than to please men will reap a reward that is greater than anything we could possibly desire. Even before that time we are rewarded with walking in the presence of God while on the earth. The peace, joy and contentment of walking in the Spirit cannot be compared to anything the world has to offer.

  • Mark 10:29 And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's,
  • 30 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

Even Jesus tells us that we will have rewards on the earth but with persecutions. Until the Lord comes to set up His kingdom we cannot please both God and men at the same time. The more godly we live the less the world will like us.

  • 2Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
  • 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

Do not be surprised that evil gets worse after a nation rejects God's holiness and His word. Romans chapter one shows us how we get a reprobate mind.

  • Psalm 4:3 But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.

The Lord sets apart the godly for Himself. The godly are special in the sight of God for they choose to please God rather than to please men.

  • Psalm 119:162 I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.

This should be our attitude about the word of God just like we have found a great treasure for surely it can't even be compared to the riches of this life.

  • Psalm 119:163 I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love.

The word is truth and is the opposite of lying and deceit.

  • Psalm 119:164 Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy righteous judgments.

Actually we can't begin to praise God enough for providing us with a copy of His word in the volume of a book.

  • Psalm 40:6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
  • 7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

Psalm 40: 6 and 7 is fulfilled at the death burial and resurrection of Jesus recorded for us in  the New Testament

To obey God's word and believe in His way of salvation is the only way of eternal salvation. That is through none other than Jesus Christ. The volume of the book is speaking of Christ.

  • Hebrews 10:6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

We will be at peace and comforted if we live by God's word rather then the words of men.

  • Psalm 119:165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

Nothing shall be a stumbling block to them who trust in the word.

  • Psalm 119:166 LORD, I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments.
  • 167 My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them exceedingly.
  • 168 I have kept thy precepts and thy testimonies: for all my ways are before thee.

TAU

  • Psalm 119:169  Let my cry come near before thee, O LORD: give me understanding according to thy word.

  • James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Ask for wisdom of the word and it shall be given to you. Seek the Lord and you shall find.

  • Psalm 119:170 Let my supplication come before thee: deliver me according to thy word.
  • 171 My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes.
  • 172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.

Once we get understanding, we must speak to others and enlighten them to the truth of God's word.

  • Psalm 119:173 Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts.
  • 174 I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law is my delight.

If the word of God is taught by the anointing of the Holy Spirit, it should never be boring. The word is alive and quickens the soul and spirit. If we desire the word, it will delight us.

  • Psalm 119:175 Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy judgments help me.

As long as we have breath, we should praise the Lord for He truly is worthy of all our praise. The price Jesus paid to save us from sin provides us with salvation and with His word to abide with us until He returns again. God left us with the word of God in a volume of a book called the bible and He left us the Holy Spirit to dwell with us. We are not alone.

  • Hebrews 13:5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
  • 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

The study of the word causes us to be thankful and avoid covetousness. Instead we will desire to share the word with others so they can be saved. We need the word within our inner most being. In our Spirit.

  • Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
  • 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen

When we go astray the words of the Lord will draw us back to fellowship with Him.

  • Psalm 119:176 I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.

  • Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

This is a prophecy in Isaiah of Jesus Christ who died for all of our sins. He bore our iniquity on His own body when He was on the cross. He died that we might live eternally. He paid the price for our salvation. We must repent of sin and believe sincerely on Jesus to be saved. He is the way the truth and the life. He is the only way to God and eternal life. DC
