Psalm Chapter 150

  • Psalm 150:1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
  • 2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
  • 3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
  • 4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
  • 5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
  • 6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

When we are sitting in the presence of the Lord especially among others who are in the same mind and one accord, praising the Lord comes naturally. If we are truly worshipping God in spirit and in truth and not just for show, He is in our midst. Although we can worship God without any music, outward actions and in silence, the bible clearly points out that we can also use music, instruments and singing in our worship. The emphasis is that we worship in sincerity and in truth. God knows the difference between honoring Him with our heart, soul and mind or on the other hand just giving honor with just lip service and outward show.

I believe in spontaneous type of reaction to the Spirit of God that causes one to run, jump and rejoice in worship. How many times do we see crowds jump up and down and cheer when their team makes a touchdown. Well our God deserves that kind of worship too. Praising, singing, jumping with joy...whatever glorifies the Lord, for He is worthy of our praise.

Whatever we do and however we worship though should be to glorify God and offer thanksgiving to Him for His gift of salvation offered to all who believe in His Son, Jesus Christ. It should never be to show off our talent or glorify a certain person, group or organization. We need to focus on God and glorify Him because He is the one that gives us all these good things. Let everyone that is still breathing worship the Lord. DC
