Psalm Chapter 67

To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm or Song.

  • Psalm 67:1 God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah.

Glory to God for this hope. God be merciful to us, bless us and shine your face upon us. To have this is the have everything. To have God's presence in one's life is more than we could ever ask or think. He is glorious and worthy of all our praise. Great is His name now and forever. Wonderful is the hope of seeing the Lord Jesus Christ some day and have Him say to us, "Well, done, good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord."

What more is there in this life to desire than to please our wonderful mighty God?

  • Psalm 67:2 That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.

He gave us the written word that so many ignore, pass by and forsake. This way is given to us to guide not only our own selves, our families but also it is given to us to bring to the other nations that know not God. If they reject the word, then our hands are innocent. If they receive it, we have saved lives from eternal hell and cause them to inherit eternal life.

  • Psalm 67:3 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.

For His plan of salvation freely given to all who believe and receive the Son of God, Jesus Christ. We should praise Him. We were all lost and on our way to hell because of sin, but through Jesus a way is made to free the soul from sin and cause that soul to pass from eternal death into eternal life. The soul that sins, shall die but Jesus gives life through His own death, burial and resurrection that He submitted Himself to. This He did to pay the price for our salvation. Glory to God for sending His own Son to save us from our sins.

  • Psalm 67:4 O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.
  • 5 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.
  • 6 Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.
  • 7 God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.

One day it shall be that the whole earth will honor and acknowledge our God but now it is not yet come to pass. Many rebel and try to explain God's existence away by teaching other possibilities. They will one day regret ever throwing away the knowledge of God. We need the Lord.

Here is a preview in verses 6 and 7 what it will be like when nations judge righteously, have the joy of the Lord, and govern in a way that pleases God. When the people praise God, are glad, and thankful for God, the earth will yield fruitfulness. We enjoy God's blessings and all the earth shall live in the awesome fear of God when we find and serve the Lord our God. DC
