Psalm Chapter 69
To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David.
Sin is sin of course but there is a difference between those that sin and immediately regret it and repent than those that excuse themselves and do not acknowledge that they have sinned. There are those also that sin and don't care whether they offend God or go against His word. David sinned at times but was always willing to change if he discovered that he sinned against God. David loved God's word. The Psalms are full of David's love for the commandments and statutes of God. This must be our attitude. If we sin and don't care whether we have broken the word of God, that is a dangerous place to be in. This is why you will see a world full of people who make mistakes and sin but some repent and are saved while others reject the commandment of God to repent and go on into eternity without God and lost forever in a burning hell. Notice that those that hate the followers of righteousness are those that never repent. Our enemies are those that oppose godliness and right living. We cannot possibly please both God and men. They are different as night and day.
If we decide to take our stand on righteousness, we will bear reproach. There are those right now being persecuted because of their stand for the word of God. Many try even now to ban the word of God. The way to receive salvation and keep from being lost forever is repentance and faith in Jesus to remove and forgive our sin. Repent means to be sorry for and be willing to change. It means that we recognize that God has a law and we have broken that law. It means that we love God and desire Him cleanse us from all sin. Then we can receive His Holy Sprit. If we try to receive Jesus without accepting the commandments of God or acknowledging that we need to repent of sin, the sin will remain and we will be lost. Repenting from sin doesn't mean that we will never sin again. It means that we hate our sin and do not want to return to sin but live for God. Temptations will come but now we have the power to resist temptation and live for God. If we do sin, we can repent right away and trust God to take the sin away and give us power over it.
If a pastor or someone else is jailed for warning against any sin that the bible warns us of, whether it is sexual immorality, murder, theft etc. and that he or she is living in sin and need a savior, those that persecute the bearers of the gospel will come under God's judgment if they do not repent and change.
Those that persecute those that preach godliness, are deceived and deceivers. Do not listen to them for they are blind and call evil good and good evil. They do not know that Satan is using them to shut up the truth from people so that they can't be saved. Satan does not want this message to get out. He wants us to believe those that tell us sin is okay and we can't help the way we are. Of course we can't help it. That is why God sent Jesus Christ so that we can have help. We must receive God's deliverance and turn from our sin though or else we cannot be saved. If one stands for the word of God and does not back down, sometimes even his or her own family will turn against them.
We may have to choose one or the other. If we choose our friends and family both we and they will be lost forever. If we choose Christ, they may forsake us now but they may receive Christ themselves later.
Unfortunately sometimes we have to choose this day who we will live for and obey. God or man.
Many even today all over the world are being mocked, threatened and persecuted for standing up for God's word. I wouldn't be surprised if they became a song of the drunkards. We need to pray for those under severe persecution that their faith fail not, that they are delivered and that the gospel goes forth in spite of the opposition.
We recognize this as the prophecy of the sufferings of the Messiah, Jesus. This happened to Him literally on the cross when they offered Him vinegar to drink. They mocked Him, spit upon Him and made fun of Him as He suffered for the sins of all mankind. Whether David knew he was prophesying, I don't know but it is plain that this speaks of the sufferings of Jesus.
Those that rejected Christ later suffered vengeance for their rejection. All those that refused to repent and accept the Son of God will suffer the same fate.
There is only one way to have our names in the book of life and that is to repent and receive Jesus as Lord of our lives. We then begin to abide in Christ and not turn back. Our names our written in the book of life. That is the sole reason God sent Jesus to come in the flesh and die for sins. To save all who would believe. If we reject this gift of God, there is no other way to be saved. Religion alone cannot do it. It takes the shed blood of Jesus Christ to cover sins. It only counts though for the ones who receive Him as savior. If we want to remain in our sins and reject Jesus, we will be lost forever in a burning hell. God does not want this to happen to anyone. That is why He allowed His own Son to die such a horrible death. He died in our place. We sinned. We deserve to be punished, not the Son of God. But the Son of God, Jesus Christ did it for us so that all who believe in Him can be saved.
God has so many beautiful things for those that obey and love Him above all other things.
To those that come to Jesus Christ and believe in Him, they will inherit the kingdom to come. No one that remains in sin and stays outside of Jesus will enter into the city of God and inherit eternal life. Jesus is returning again. The first time He came it was to die for sins, the second time He comes, it will be to put down all rebellion and bring in an everlasting Kingdom which will have no sin. Look at verse 36. They that love His name shall dwell therein. They will be where Jesus is. If we want to enter into this Kingdom we need to get rid of sin now through faith in Jesus Christ. Sin cannot enter eternity. Sin separates from God. Whether that sin is adultery, sexual sin outside of the boundaries God has set in His divine order, or any other sin that is an abomination to God. Concerning marriage, God ordained marriage between a man and a women. He did not ordain any other kind. If we die our natural deaths without repenting of sin and turning to Jesus to take away our sins, then we will be lost forever. This does not have to be. DC
