Psalm Chapter 76

To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm or Song of Asaph.

Psalm 76:1 In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.

Oh that His name would be considered great everywhere. Great is God and great is His word. We will only fail if we try to live without His guidance. If we forsake His paths, it is to our own peril.

Psalm 76:2 In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.
3 There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.
4 Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.
5 The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.
6 At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.
7 Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
8 Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,
9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.
10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.
11 Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.
12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.

Kingdoms rise and kingdoms fall but the Lord remains forever. Those that trust in the Lord and delight in His word will remain forever. They will rule the earth. Those that choose to go their own way and reject the law of God will be cut off from the earth. They will die in sin and be lost forever.

In just reading the Old Testament we see that when Israel rejected God and started doing things the same as the nations around them that worshipped idols, Israel was given over to slavery to the same idol nations.

God restored them time and again when they repented and turned back to God. In turn their enemies were destroyed by the power of God. All kingdoms that came against Israel were destroyed. Egypt still exists because they have a purpose in the latter days but Egypt is not the power it once was in the days of Moses.

Spain was a nation that once persecuted the Jews. They are still a nation but have lost the power they once had. We hear so little about Spain anymore. The same can be said of any nation that had any part of persecuting the Jewish people. Look for China to fall when their purpose is fulfilled because they persecute those that believe in Jesus Christ.

God had mercy on Germany. Hitler's reign is no more. They too lost the power they once had. France also has lost the power it once had.

The United States is now the most powerful nation on the face of the earth. They are that way because of their compassion on Israel, their many missionaries who have brought the gospel to the whole world and the believers who reside in the United States. Praise God that the United States was founded by people of faith. They may not have been perfect, not all believed but they are full of those faithful to God and our Lord Jesus.

The United States is slowly biting the hand that feeds them as a nation. The wicked have led many astray. God is ruled unconstitutional in the public schools. He is cast out and evolution is taught in the place of creation. We are losing our children to the god of pleasure and laziness. There is no fear of God in the United States like we once had. Unthankful and unholy is our attitude. We no longer care what God's word says, we do as we please.

We repented once of the sin of slavery but we kill millions of babies by abortion which is legal. Human trafficking, pedophilia and slavery still exists but it is done in secret. If we don't repent and turn away from this, that too will become legal and then our country will be history. As long as the church is alive and well we can pray against this evil and stand strong for the Lord. Since updating this page in November 2025, things are much worse. Gender confusion, some mutilate children trying to change their gender by drugs or operations, evil is called good and good evil. Yet in spite of that. Revivals are breaking out. It seems as if God is giving us a chance to get right with God before He judges the nation.

After the Jews rejected Jesus af the Messiah or Christ; in 70 AD their country was taken away from them never to be restored again until 1948. Israel being in their own land again after so many years is the beginning of latter day fulfillment of prophecy which will come to pass just before the return of Jesus Christ. Unbelief and failure to recognize the need of a savior to save them from sin is the cause of Israel not seeing who their Messiah was. They were looking for a conquering king, not a savior from sin. The sin question has to be taken care of first before we can have an everlasting kingdom of righteousness.

This is what so many miss. We are sinners and do not deserve eternal life, peace and a righteous kingdom on earth. God in His love and wisdom made a way for us to be forgiven of sins and to be made free from sin. This way is called the "New Birth". We are born the first time from our mother's womb. The second birth is spiritual. Our sins are forgiven and we receive the living water, a gift from God, and we become born again by the Holy Spirit of God. This is all accomplished through faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus died to pay the price for all and every sin mankind has every committed. His death and sacrifice only counts for us if we come to Him repenting of sin and asking Him to come into our lives and save us.

The reason so many are still in sin even if they have come to Christ is because they have not repented or turned from sin. We have to desire to get rid of that stuff and walk no more in it. If we do sin, we need to repent as soon as possible and walk in God's ways.

Eternal life and peace is ours if we turn to Jesus Christ but so many prefer to listen to the voices of the majority.

Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

If we follow the politically correct crowds of today's world, we will be going the broad way to destruction. If we go the opposite direction and become full of hate and persecute anyone who doesn't see eye to eye with us, we also are following the broad way of religion.

The strait and narrow way is faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. It is turning from sin and realizing we cannot make it alone. We need a savior from sin. To accept this savior we first must realize that we are sinners in need of God's way of salvation. We then must walk in love and spread this gospel, not hate those that disagree with us. If we love God, we will love those that need to hear the gospel.

The gospel is beautiful. It offers eternal life and everlasting happiness in the kingdom to come. God made a way for every person to inherit eternal life. The reason so many are missing it, is because they do not see themselves as sinners in need of salvation. DC

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
