Psalm Chapter 93

  • Psalm 93:1 The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.

How much we forget, the Lord reigns. Nothing can happen or is going to happen that is not ordained or known by God. Sometimes our decisions effect the outcome of our troubles and heartaches but to those that trust in God, and are walking in His word, nothing will happen that we cannot endure.

  • 1Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

This is our trust and our hope. God doesn't give us the grace to go through things until we actually are going through it. If we send our child on a bus, we don't usually give them the money to pay for the ride until just before they board the bus or else they might be busying playing and lose it. Of course in this day and age, no body will even put a child on a bus by themselves unless it is a school bus.

  • Psalm 93:2 Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting.
    God always existed.

It is hard for our minds to fathom something that had no beginning and has no ending but our vision is limited in this body of flesh and we can't see as God sees.

  • Psalm 93:3 The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves.

Floods here may represent those that oppose the righteous or the ones who live godly lives. It may mean actual enemies of war, oppressing nations that surrounded Israel. No matter what the trouble, God is mightier than all of them.

  • Psalm 93:4 The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea.
  • 5 Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever.

We must remember that God is holy and He has a plan to make all of us holy. The bible says that without holiness no person shall even see God.

  • Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

So, how can a wicked vile sinner walk in holiness. He can't by himself. That is the whole reason Jesus came to die for our sins that we may be saved from sin and inherit eternal life. When we repent of sin, God gives us the Holy Spirit to abide with us. This Holy Spirit teaches us to live holy and gives us power to overcome the desire to sin.

  • Hebrews 12:9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
  • 10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

God's word and God's spirit is for correction, reproof and our learning so that we may have fellowship with Him. Oh what we are missing if we don't know the Lord.

  • 2Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

As long as we walk the earth there is never a time when we don't need to study the scriptures.

  • Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
  • 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

God is good and His ways are perfect, let us walk in them. We can't love this world and love God at the same time. DC
