The Messiah - Part 2
In Abraham all families of the earth were to be blessed. Sometimes we think of blessings as material things like wealth and prosperity but there is much more promised here than that. This blessing was to be an eternal inheritance. Here was a promise made by God Himself to give us what the devil robbed us of when Adam and Eve disobeyed God and caused sin to enter the world. Through Abraham God was going to bring a way to forgive our sins, cleanse us from sin and bring us a new beginning, a new birth. All who believe and receive this holy way will have everlasting life. All who refuse and reject this holy way will inherit the curse and be lost and apart from God forever. This really isn't cruel and harsh as it sounds. First of all, we are already lost eternally. After physical death we face eternal death and separation from God in a place called Hell. The reason for Hell I believe is to stop sin and evil eternally. It is a place of no escape and sin will enter there and stop there. All those who have sinned will have to end up in Hell in order for sin to be stopped. The evil we see in the world now will not continue forever but God made a perfect way for us to escape the coming judgment for sin and inherit eternal life with a new body that cannot die. Man was created to live eternally and only the body dies at death. The inner man, or soul and spirit of man lives forever at one place or another. God had to plan a way to save as many as He can from this awful eternal fate. He had to send His own Son into the flesh. He caused Jesus to be born of a woman, to became a man who could suffer death, be tempted and live as one of us. Jesus was able to reverse the curse by living a life without sin. He never once broke the law of God that most of us at the age where we are held accountable have broken at one time or another. When He was killed, He suffered death without deserving to die. He paid for sin that He did not commit. In doing so, He was able to reverse the curse. All who believe in what He did for them will inherit the eternal life that was promised to Abraham. We inherit this by
acknowledging that we have sinned, desiring to be free from sin and
then repenting of sin and believing on Jesus Christ to free us from
sin. We then can receive the gift of eternal life. We become a new creature in Christ
Jesus. We become "Born Again."
I love how the New Testament is concealed in the Old and the Old Testament is revealed in the New. God is awesome. DC
