Psalm Chapter 117

  • Psalm 117:1 O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people.
  • 2 For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.

The truth of the Lord endures forever. He is worthy of all praise. Man may change and do his or her own will but God stays the same. Often I think that God is all I really have. He is the only one I can really rely on. I know He will be near me tomorrow. I know that my salvation is in His hands. I know that He will never leave or forsake me. Men cannot be depended on in the same way as God. Men die, they get sick, they leave, they move and there is no assurance that they will be the same tomorrow as they are today.

  • Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

We can depend on God to be just and merciful. He never sins or makes mistakes. He is never too late or too early. He has an answer before we ask.

  • Psalm 96:13 Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.

We will be judged by the truth of the word. On the judgment day, God will be fair. He will judge a righteous judgment. In the pages of God's word we see the whole plan of God unfolding. We can read of His beautiful way of salvation that He made for mankind to escape the judgment of God. This is truth. God's word is true. Something deep inside of each one of us tells us that God is real and His word is true.

If we begin to reject that word and ignore the drawing of the Holy Spirit, eventually we become reprobate in our minds. Some of us may not reject God entirely and we may believe He exists but we live away from God. We do not seek His presence and His fellowship.

Sin will separate us from God but through faith in Jesus that road block is moved away. When we repent of sins and become born again by the spirit of God we can have daily fellowship with God. Yet so many of us are following Him afar off. We are not walking in His fellowship. Set aside time for the Lord. He is really all we have when you think about it. He is all we can depend on. We need him more than we think.

God is faithful and His word is true. He is a companion to the widow and the widower. He is a father to the orphan, a friend to those who have none. God is good and worthy to be praised. He is a shelter in a storm, a refuge from trouble, He is a way when there is no way, He is God.
