Psalm Chapter 119 part C

VAU

  • Psalm 119:41  Let thy mercies come also unto me, O LORD, even thy salvation, according to thy word.
  • 42 So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.

If we stay innocent before God then no one can justly accuse us. Any accusations will be false. Although we are not supposed to wink at sin and be partaker of it, we have to show mercy and love to those that sin, while at the same time, not condoning their sin.

  • Psalm 119:43 And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments.
  • 44 So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.
  • 45 And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.

Walking in love, walking in the spirit and walking in the word of God is actually liberty. Sin is bondage, not godly living.

  • Psalm 119:46 I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

We should never be ashamed of Jesus Christ.

  • Mark 8:38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

  • Psalm 119:47 And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.
  • 48 My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.

To develop a love for God's word is to invite wisdom, strength, beauty, love and peace to one's soul.

ZAIN

  • Psalm 119:49 Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.
  • 50 This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.

Is any man afflicted, let him pray. The word is a comfort to the troubled and afflicted. The answer is in the word if we search for it with all our heart.

  • Psalm 119:51 The proud have had me greatly in derision: yet have I not declined from thy law.

We live in times when the word of God is either being, laughed at, discarded, ignored, scoffed at, changed and considered obsolete. Even if it's not popular to do so, we must believe in and defend the word of God. To forsake that is to love death.

  • Psalm 119:52 I remembered thy judgments of old, O LORD; and have comforted myself.
  • 53 Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law.

It is grievous indeed that even some Christians ignore the word of God and do not accept it for what it says. It is strange also that the more educated we become, the less the word of God is believed. God is not against education but we better be careful where we get it. We need to return to vocational schools where we can learn a trade without learning the nonsense that goes with the higher learning in today's institutions. What profit is it if we learn lies and deceptions?

The book of Daniel predicts an increase of knowledge in the latter days.

  • Daniel 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

The desire for knowledge is what led to the original fall of man.

  • Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

It is not wrong to want to be wise but we need to seek the right kind of wisdom.

  • Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

  • Proverbs 2:6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

If our knowledge lacks the knowledge of God, it is vain and profits nothing. If knowledge denies God, it is deadly and a lie from Satan himself who has deceived mankind from the beginning.

  • 1Corinthians 8:1 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.

Man's knowledge puffs us up and makes us proud. We think we are higher than others and sometimes higher than God. When our knowledge is kept in subjection to our Father in Heaven, it is true knowledge. We must look to Him and His word for true wisdom.

  • Psalm 119:54 Thy statutes have been my songs in the house of my pilgrimage.

So many of our modern songs began in the psalms. We sing of the Lord, we sing stories, we sing the gospel and we sing praises.

  • Psalm 119:55 I have remembered thy name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept thy law.
  • 56 This I had, because I kept thy precepts.

CHETH

  • Psalm 119:57  Thou art my portion, O LORD: I have said that I would keep thy words.
  • 58 I intreated thy favour with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word.
  • 59 I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.
  • 60 I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.

Here is one that is determined to keep the commandments and the word of God even though the wicked seek to rob him of this. There are teachers today that teach our children that are robbers. Those that rob the children of the truth and substitute lies are robbers. No true family of believers should allow the lie of evolution to be taught to their children.

  • Psalm 119:61 The bands of the wicked have robbed me: but I have not forgotten thy law.

I know no one would have literally robbed King David, so this must be talking of spiritual robbery by those that deny the word of God as truth. We have those in our world today.

  • Psalm 119:62 At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments.
  • 63 I am a companion of all them that fear thee, and of them that keep thy precepts.

Except for witnessing to a person for the salvation of his or her soul, we should keep company with those that fear God and keep His word. If we do not do this, sooner or later the philosophies and beliefs of the wicked will affect us.

  • Psalm 119:64 The earth, O LORD, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy statutes.

Returning daily to the Lord for His instruction is necessary to keep us from getting weak and our testimony watered down with the worldly thinking of our times. DC
