Psalm Chapter 135
Yes, it is good to praise the Lord in sincerity for He inhabits the praises of those who worship Him in spirit and in truth. Inhabits means to live within, to fill with His spirit. Our God is an awesome God.
Not all verses apply to Christians that apply to Israel but many of them do. This one would apply if we through faith in Jesus Christ become God's people. He would then inhabit our praises.
Many have tried to remove Israel from being the chosen of God but we cannot do that. We must not be high-minded but fear. We are grafted into the vine with Israel through faith in Jesus the Son of God. Jesus is that vine, but that does not mean that God has cast away Israel. One cannot read and study the whole bible and get the message that Israel is cast off forever. The whole future end time prophecy applies to Israel. Read and understand, that is why God went to all the trouble to make sure we have the bible in these end times so that we will understand and not be deceived.
There are false gods who are not really God. There are spirits in the world that are not God's spirit. Jesus said that His sheep would know His voice. We can know the voice of our Lord and not be deceived. There are other spirits and we must be alert and not fall for every whim that comes along even in the church. God gave us the bible to measure everything by. Let us use it. God is a holy God. Any religion or spirit that allows ungodly living or sexual impurity cannot be of God. God forgives us of those things through Jesus Christ but we are not to return to those things. He said to "Go and sin no more."
Remember God did this to bring judgment upon Egypt for the oppression of His people. There was a reason for this. God also made a way that all who believed the word of God would escape this judgment. Even the Egyptians could have escaped it if they obeyed the word of God and placed the blood of innocent lambs upon the door posts when death passed by. This was a picture of the coming way of salvation. The blood of Jesus covers our sins and causes us to escape the coming judgment when we come to Him trusting in His salvation. Jesus is called the lamb of God.
Because of the great sin of heathen nations, God gave their land to Israel. Some of their sins were sacrificing their children to idols. Israel later sinned and turned to idols causing them to lose their land. Some of that land was restored in 1948. We must fear the Lord for He can give us great nations but He can take them away again. I fear for the United States. It has been a great nation that once trusted in God. Now God is forbidden to be taught in their public schools. They teach everything else including false gods that are no gods. Their literature will teach about legends, fables and eastern meditation but the real God is left out. Their science classes teach the theory of evolution that is more and more proving to be impossible. What is the alternative? They don't want to think about that so they continue with the lie of evolution deceiving and being deceived. I believe the scientists really know that evolution is not possible and try to think of other possibilities. It could be that the occult and false religions may become more into play for they will not turn to the real living God because the real living God requires repentance and godly living. If we are enjoying our sin, we don't want to change. Repentance means to change. Yet to be saved and escape the coming judgment we have to repent and believe in Jesus for remission of sins. There is no other way. Ungodliness cannot enter heaven and only the blood of Jesus can cover our sins and make us holy in the sight of God. We must continue in or abide in Christ to be saved. After one is delivered from the bondage of sin, we find a joy and peace greater than we had when we were under the bondage of sin.
We see that the word repent is used here concerning God. We know that God does not have to repent of sin so we see that repent means to change one's mind. To do things differently. It does not mean just to be sorry for sin but to turn from sin. In this case it means that something happen to cause God to turn around and stop His judgment in some cases.
There are no doubt evil spirits that accompany the worship of idols. That is why so many trust in them. We must avoid idolatry at all costs. God knows that the spirit of the devil will only harm us. Any good that comes from Satan will only be temporary in order to deceive us. In the end it will bring us eternal destruction in hell.
We don't talk much about the fear of God but we really need this back again. The fear of God will guard our country again evil. People are more likely to obey the law if they fear that they will be judged when they disobey. Once they lose that fear lawlessness prevails. The reason so many in the United States have lost all moral restraint is because they have lost the fear of God. The grace of God leads us to repent and change. Some have turned the teaching of grace into a license to sin. We must not do this and take away the fear of God. Grace does not give us a license to return to sin and still make heaven. We must read all the bible and not just a few scriptures that tell of grace. There is also judgment. Most genuine born again Christians do not want to sin but we must warn against sin. The soul that sins shall die spiritually. We must tell people the truth and not just tell them things that make them feel better about themselves. Sin will not enter the future kingdom of God. We must repent of sin now and accept the payment for that sin. That payment was made by Jesus Christ when He gave His life as a sacrifice. If after we come to Christ and then return to sin, we crucify Him all over again. We must warn against this. I'm not talking about losing our temper or running a red light, I'm talking about sin. Sin is transgression of the law. The law is recorded in the Old Testament. Adultery is sin. Stealing is sin. This is the sin that we must not return to and if we do we must repent and turn back to God and not allow sin to continue. God has a better way. When we turn to Christ, we are born again by His spirit. We can now walk in love and truth. We don't have to return to the bondage of sin because God will give us His spirit to abide with us and to put within us a desire to live holy and not sin. If we do sin, we can turn around and genuinely repent. Never give up, keep going, be determined to rest in His grace and move on.
All these things I speak of are good things. How can we taste of these good things and even think of returning to sin? Let us walk in the spirit and we will not be a slave to the flesh. God has a better way to walk. Let us walk in that good way. -DC
