Psalm Chapter 45

To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, for the sons of Korah, Maschil, A Song of loves.

  • Psalm 45:1 My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
  • 2 Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.
  • 3 Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O most mighty, with thy glory and thy majesty.
  • 4 And in thy majesty ride prosperously because of truth and meekness and righteousness; and thy right hand shall teach thee terrible things.
  • 5 Thine arrows are sharp in the heart of the king's enemies whereby the people fall under thee.
  • 6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.
  • 7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

This is prophecy of Jesus Christ here. He loved righteousness and hated wickedness. He was anointed above all.

  • Hebrews 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
  • 9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

I believe God will bless all rulers who love righteousness and hate iniquity. Those that rule contrary to this are usually brought down quickly. Examples are King Saul, Hitler, Stalin, Nero. Very few of these lived to be an old age and ruling in splendor. They live in constant fear that their kingdoms will be taken away. That fear causes them to cut down enemies and persecute the innocent.

The day is coming when Jesus Christ will return to set up a righteousness kingdom that will last forever. He will put down all rebellion and sin. He will usher in everlasting righteousness. This will be the only day of peace. False messiahs may come first and speak peace but they will only be deceivers. The true Messiah will bring in the only peace. He shall come in the clouds suddenly and it will be no one alive now on the earth born into the human race. He shall not come the second time as a babe in the manger but as a powerful king.

This is what the Jewish people expected Him to do the first time. They were looking for a mighty king to deliver them from Roman authority. This is why the Jews missed the first coming of the Messiah. They did not realize that the Messiah had to come first to make a perfect sacrifice for sins. They did not realize that the sin problem had to be dealt with before the kingdom of peace could come. This is the day of grace now. Now is the time when we should come to God repenting of sin and accepting this Jesus who God sent to us 2000 years ago to save us from our sins.

It is so hard for us to get this. SIN cannot enter heaven or any peaceful kingdom on earth. As long as there is sin, there will never be peace. SIN has to be done away with. SIN will be judged. Jesus, the Son of God, came to do away with sin. You may say that Jesus came and went and sin is still with us. That is because all of us have not yet repented and turned from sin. All of us have not come to Jesus for deliverance from sin. Some of us who have done that have not remained in that first love but have gone back into sin again. Jesus did not come just to forgive past sins but to free us from sin.

  • Romans 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
  • 19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

We don't have to sin anymore. Sin does not have to rule over us after we come to Christ.

  • Romans 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

  • Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

We never hear the holiness message much anymore and that is the reason why the church has so much trouble with sin. They do not fear God and are not walking in holiness. Some preachers do not preach against sin anymore and the people have become weak believing they are saved by grace and do not have to live holy. Now we are saved by grace but to live by the word of God, walk in love, walk in the spirit etc. shows the world around us that we are sincere, we live what we claim to believe in, and we bring forth godly fruit.

  • Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
  • 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
  • 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

The bible does not teach, once we are saved grace covers us and we can live how our flesh desires. The bible teaches that we are saved by grace not by keeping the law of Moses. That means that before coming to Christ there was a law of God teaching us right from wrong. We can't be saved by just being a good person and obeying all laws and doing good deeds.

We are saved because of the mercy of God and our repenting of sin and receiving God's gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. We are saved by the grace of God and nothing we can do can possibly earn our salvation any other way but by coming to Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only way of salvation. No religion, creed or baptism can save us apart from Jesus Christ.

We are saved however, from sin. Jesus came to save us from sin. That is what salvation is. He didn't come to just forgive us of sin but to save us from sin. We are not to return to sin and still think we can be saved by His grace without repenting or turning from sin. What would be the use of Jesus saving us from sin if we go right back into sin again?

Sin cannot enter Heaven and sin will not go into eternity with God. Sin has to be done away with before we die in order that we enter heaven. A baby is saved because they do not sin. After we sin though, we can't enter Heaven because sin cannot enter there. Thus we come to Jesus for deliverance from sin. We then can enter Heaven when our body dies.

If we reject Christ, we remain in sin and cannot enter Heaven. When we receive Christ, we are free from sin and He gives us the Holy Spirit to enable us to have power over sin and not return to it. Our thought now should be not to return to sin. If we sin, repent at once. If we continue and do not repent, the sinful nature will return and yes we can be lost. Sinning one time after we come to Christ will not destroy us but if we continue in it without repenting it could destroy us. God usually has mercy and stops us sooner or later but the thought of becoming a slave to sin again should appall us.

If one was saved forever and could not possibly be lost, there would be no need to go to church, read the bible or even pray after we come to Christ. All we would have to do is make sure everyone we know and those we don't know would find Jesus Christ. We would not have to worry about how we lived. However, Jesus did not die to save us from sin for us just to go back into it and do what the flesh wants to do.

He is coming a second time to rule the world and deliver the whole world from darkness but the sin question had to be dealt with first and that was the reason for His first coming. We couldn't possibly save ourselves by our own goodness that no one has, so God had to make the way for us. That way is faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus had to pay the sacrifice for sins and make the way for us to be saved. Now that we accept Jesus, we must continue in His ways, not our ways and walk in holiness.

  • Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

We are not to war and fight among our brethren but follow peace. We are not to return to sin but live in holiness.

  • Psalm 45:8 All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.
  • 9 Kings' daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir.
  • 10 Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house;
  • 11 So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him.
  • 12 And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall intreat thy favour.
  • 13 The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.
  • 14 She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.
  • 15 With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace.
  • 16 Instead of thy fathers shall be thy children, whom thou mayest make princes in all the earth.
  • 17 I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.

Marriage is honorable and is used as an example in the scriptures. Marriage is when a man and woman forsake all other commitments and come together in one accord and one mind. They become one family.

It was meant from the beginning to be for a lifetime. When we enter into marriage it is for a lifetime. Divorce, unfaithfulness and adultery were never in the plan of God. God grieves when He sees a family broken because of divorce and unfaithfulness. From these verses in psalms we see the beauty of the virgin and purity of marriage.

This an example of what our faithfulness should be to God. We are to live holy and not forsake Him by returning to sin and following after another way of life. We are part of the family of God now and there should be no thought to returning to the sin Jesus Christ saved us from.

God is now our Lord and we are part of His family.

  • Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
  • 24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
  • 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
  • 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
  • 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
  • 28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
  • 29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
  • 30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
  • 31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
  • 32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
  • 33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Marriage is a holy ordinance started by God Himself. When we are committed to Jesus Christ it becomes similar to a marriage. It is forever. When a bride comes to her husband, her old life is gone and she enters into a new relationship. She takes on a new name.

When we come to Christ old things are past and all things become new. This is a commitment for eternity.

To live in sin is to be followers of Satan. We belong to Jesus now and should have no fellowship with the darkness of sin and Satan any longer.  However, don't take my word for anything. Read the bible for yourself.  Not just a few verses taken out of context but read all of it. You will never regret it. -Dorna
