Psalm Chapter 55

To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil, A Psalm of David.

  • Psalm 55:1 Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.
  • 2 Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;
  • 3 Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.

The wicked oppresses the righteous for one reason. They do not want any opposition to their wickedness. When a government becomes wicked, the oppression of anyone who proclaims God's word becomes commonplace.

Evil is called good and good is called evil. That is fast approaching the United States. Those that warn and preach against sexual impurity, against leaving the bounds of God's divine order for marriage and stand against abortion are considered bigots, hate-mongers, right-wing, and fundamentalists. They are actually seen as trouble makers and evil. The ones that okay the above mentioned sins are considered the good guys so to speak.

It is the same as when Satan spoke to Eve in the garden and caused her to believe that God was trying to keep her from enjoying the fruit that would cause her to know all things and nothing be hidden from her. She was deceived. When Adam joined her in the deception, sin came upon the human race. That is why God the Son had to become a man and live among us without committing any sin yet die because of the sin like we do.

When we believe and give our lives to Jesus, we inherit eternal life. Now we can live for God because we love Him and want to do what is right. Jesus was resurrected from the dead. If He had sinned in any point I don't believe He could have been resurrected and be able to raise any of us who believe from the dead. All will be resurrected. Some will go to Heaven and others to hell if they die in their sin. Jesus came to remove our sin and give us life eternal.

When the world says something is right that God says is wrong, we better listen to God because the world around us is listening to the same evil one that brought sin and death into the world. If we want eternal life with God we need to listen to Him not the wicked one.

More and more we see anyone standing for God's word to be oppressed by the wicked. They want to silence our voice so that their wickedness can continue unchallenged.

First of all I want to say that to make fun of, taunt, tease and physically hurt a those that sin against God is wrong. It brings reproach on the gospel of Jesus Christ and it hurts the cause of the truth more than anything. If we do those kind of things then it makes those that accuse seem justified.

Enemies to the gospel are those that agree with us sometimes. Here is the truth. We must love those we think are wrong. To love them does not mean to agree with what they do. In fact those that agree with them and go along with them do not love them at all because they do not care that they may die younger than they should with disease, or die in their sins facing eternity lost and without any escape.

Love means to tell the truth even if it hurts feelings. If you see your child ready to walk into a den of copperheads, you will grab that child and run. If you are afraid of hurting his feelings and let him go on into the den of snakes, he will most likely be bitten and may die. Hello..........

Another attack of Satan against the human race is abortion. Abortion kills the innocent before it is even born. It is evil and wrong. It is murder. Yet if we speak out against abortion we are considered someone against a woman's right to choose. Or a woman's reproductive rights. The enemy always thinks up phrases which makes evil sound acceptable. The enemy is deceptive and cleaver.

The name of the baby is changed to fetus to make it sound like a thing instead of a human being. It is a baby. There is no way to get around that fact. Abortion is murder. The bible speaks of murdering innocent. They use to toss live babies into a fire before the altar of an idol god thinking that child sacrifice was a good thing. Abortion is just as bad. It is a sin that one can be forgiven of because of the mercy and grace of God but it is still sin. True repentance in necessary for any sin but in doing so, come to Jesus and He gives you a clean slate. You can start all over without sin.

David's enemies were mostly those that envied his strength, and his favor with God. King Saul who once was his friend turned against him when he saw God's favor on David instead of him. (Saul) Then David's own son turned against him. Many times David felt alone and cast down.

Although David always repented and restored his relationship to God, he got in trouble and almost ruined his standing with God by adultery and then covering it up by allowing the woman's husband to die in battle. It was evil and if he had not have repented and changed, he would have been lost eternally along with losing his kingdom. He did suffer the loss of the child that came from that immoral relationship which grieved him terribly. David though was restored to God because he genuinely repented and mourned over his sin.

  • Ezeiel 16:36 Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which thou didst give unto them;
  • 37 Behold, therefore I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all them that thou hast loved, with all them that thou hast hated; I will even gather them round about against thee, and will discover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness.
  • 38 And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy.
  • 39 And I will also give thee into their hand, and they shall throw down thine eminent place, and shall break down thy high places: they shall strip thee also of thy clothes, and shall take thy fair jewels, and leave thee naked and bare.
  • 40 They shall also bring up a company against thee, and they shall stone thee with stones, and thrust thee through with their swords.
  • 41 And they shall burn thine houses with fire, and execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women: and I will cause thee to cease from playing the harlot, and thou also shalt give no hire any more.
  • 42 So will I make my fury toward thee to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from thee, and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry
  • 43 Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast fretted me in all these things; behold, therefore I also will recompense thy way upon thine head, saith the Lord GOD: and thou shalt not commit this lewdness above all thine abominations.

Some troubles come from the judgment of God upon those that sin without repentance after being warned over and over. Then some come from those that hate preachers of righteousness and those that warn against evil lifestyles. In that case the righteous will be rewarded for their faithfulness but the wicked will suffer the severe judgment of God.

God loves us all but what makes God angry is when the wicked persecute and kill those He sends to bring the gospel of Jesus. Also because of His promise to Abraham, going against the nation of Israel will also bring judgment to the nations that do that.

  • Psalm 55:4 My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
  • 5 Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.

Sin should grieve anyone who loves God's word. If we find ourselves accepting everything as normal, we are fallen away from the fear of God.

  • Psalm 55:6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.
  • 7 Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.
  • 8 I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.
  • 9 Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues: for I have seen violence and strife in the city.
  • 10 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.
  • 11 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.
  • 12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:
  • 13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.
  • 14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.
  • 15 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.

If David felt this way in his day, imagine how it is now when evil is called good and good is called evil. All nations that do evil will face the judgment of God. America has been spared so far because of how we have helped poor nations and have been a refuge for those who have come here to escape oppression. But look at us now.

We cast God out of our public schools in the name of fairness, we are removing the ten commandments from our courthouses. We allow abortion on demand. We forsake the fear of God and make light of the bible. We ignore the warnings of the preachers and teachers of the gospel. And some of the preachers have fallen away from their first love and started to seek after money and get rich quick schemes instead of preaching the gospel.

When God finally removes His hand of protection from us, nothing will save us. Our only hope is to repent and turn back to God. Our nation is not going to last much longer if we do not repent. How do I know? Because He did not allow sin to continue in the countries that went on before us. He didn't let Israel get by with sin in the Old Testament.  He will not let the United States off the hook either. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah?

The last straw will be when certain people will get power in the United States. These are the ones that will start persecuting those that preach the gospel and warn of sin. It will first come as it is now in other countries.

It may become against the law to commit a hate crime. Hate will be defined as merely speaking against sin if that sin is socially accepted by those in power. If this comes to the US, those that oppose sexual immorality or abortion for instance will be persecuted and then this country will probably be judged or destroyed by God. God will protect His own people though, that I can assure you. God will not judge us if we do not go along with the evil to come.

  • Psalm 55:16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.
  • 17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.

We must make our choice now to serve the Lord rather than fear men. It may mean being arrested, it may mean losing our jobs, it may mean losing our homes, and it may mean losing our lives.

However, after that, no one can harm us ever again. We reign with Jesus Christ in His kingdom to come and things look like the coming is sooner than we think.

If we have to go through any persecution He will give us the strength to go through it. I don't want this personally. I would rather see the United States repent and fear God. I would rather see preachers on every street corner proclaiming the word of God. I pray that more preachers will receive boldness to preach the truth and not back down.

Let us forsake our desire to get rich and merchandise the gospel and seek the Lord for the power to preach the word and save the lost. Let the word of God go forth with power. Warn, preach, testify and let it save the lost. We've held back to long. People are dying in sin and going to a burning hell that will never be stopped or the fire not quenched. Now is the time to warn against sin. Sin will destroy the soul, our society and the whole world. We have to repent and turn to God to escape the things that are coming to pass and stand before the Son of God. To love people means to warn. It is not hate and not a hate speech. We plead, we beg, please turn to God and away from evil. Jesus Christ wants to save, heal and grant eternal life to all who will receive.

  • Psalm 55:18 He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.
  • 19 God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God.

Those that ignore and do not fear God will be judged severely.

  • Psalm 55:20 He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant.
  • 21 The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.
  • 22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
  • 23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.

Bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days. They will die young. They will not succeed. Only those that trust in the Lord and receive the plan of God's salvation will reign with Jesus Christ. The righteous will win out in the end even though at present it may seem otherwise.  Read the back of the book. DC
