Psalm Chapter 83

A Song or Psalm of Asaph.

  • Psalm 83:1  Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
  • 2 For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
  • 3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.

This is happening in today's time also. There are those that want to silence anyone who believes in moral absolutes and Christian principles. They are removing the ten commandments from court houses in some places. They have already removed prayer and bible reading from schools in the 1960s. Abortion was brought in around 1973 and anyone who tries to cry out against it is considered evil.

We have mocked God's holy standards of concerning marriage, divorce, training children, moral absolutes, and become so politically correct that everyone goes around with a chip on their shoulder just waiting for someone to accidently insult them so they can protest. We've become unthankful and unholy.

Thy teach sensitivity training in public schools, and liberal thinking prevails our society which teach that everything should be controlled by the government. They want to control that government and deny civil rights to anyone who opposes their agenda. Their agenda being doing what is right in their own eyes and silencing anyone who preaches against sin. Sin is defined in the bible and the way out of sin is given through faith in Jesus. That is what they want to silence because they do not want anyone telling them that they are sinners in need of repentance.

Because of this, some in the government have become corrupt, robbing hard working tax payers of so much money their paychecks get smaller and the government throws their money away to fund things we would disagree with. The kids are confused about their gender, mental illness is on the rise, school shootings have increased and to solve the problem they blame the guns. Duh. They have ruined our country with confusion just like Romans chapter one describes and only the power of God among strong praying people can heal this land.

  • Psalm 83:4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.

Although this passage applies to Israel as a nation, it also applies to anyone who stands for the word of God. We see though from history that Israel has many enemies that desire to wipe them off the face of the earth. Egypt tried by killing the male children under the age of 2. Haman tried in the days of Esther. Satan tried to kill the Christ child in the days of King Herod and in doing so wiped out male children also.

The Spanish inquisition was another effort to wipe out the Jewish population. Hitler tried to wipe out the Jews. Israel is surrounded by nations that want to wipe them off the face of the earth. Jesus said it would be like that until the day He comes to set up His Kingdom on earth. In that day all enemies of the Jews and believers in Jesus Christ will be destroyed not by wars, mankind or people but by the hand and judgment of God.

Some are trying also to destroy the United States, take away any rights and substitute what is right in their own eyes but in the end they will not prevail. Read Revelation 21 and 22. God wins in the end. You can't fight against God and the Son of God Jesus the Christ.

  • Psalm 83:5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
  • 6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
  • 7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
  • 8 Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah.
  • 9 Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
  • 10 Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth.
  • 11 Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:
  • 12 Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.
  • 13 O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
  • 14 As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
  • 15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.

We see the nations that came against Israel mentioned here. Here is the patience of the saint of God. He that kills with the sword shall die with the sword. What is done to Israel or the true believers in Jesus, will be done to their enemies. God will bring vengeance on any group of people who reject Jesus Christ and persecute those that follow Christ.

Israel was broken off because of unbelief and they remain that way now, but they shall soon have their spiritual eyes opened and they will recognize that the one their ancestors rejected is the very Messiah they are waiting for.

  • Psalm 83:16 Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.
  • 17 Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish:
  • 18 That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

If one reads Revelation, they will see all these things come to pass.
Here is one example of the confusion of those that have rejected God:

  • Revelation 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
  • 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
  • 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

These are people here that know who the lamb of God is and that they have persecuted and hurt those who believe in this lamb. The lamb of God is Jesus Christ who was the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all mankind.

In Revelation it describes those that are so evil that they refuse to repent. This sounds like our country today.

  • Revelation 9:20 And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
  • 21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.

They are so far gone that even with plagues, judgment and terror, they will not repent or change.

  • Revelation 16:9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

Another place in Revelation shows the hardened hearts that will not repent.

  • Revelation 16:11 And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.

The time is coming and even now may be starting when the hearts of mankind is so hardened that they refuse to repent even when God plainly shows that His judgment is here. I see an unrepentant attitude in the world today. I see an attitude that shakes a fist in the face of God and rejects anything holy and righteous.

The United States has those with this attitude toward believers in Jesus Christ who take a stand against immorality. They don't care if we are watered down half-baked Christians who keep quiet about sin and stay within the four walls of our churches. They hate those that speak out against abortion, and the lack of the fear of God in the land. They want us to keep silent so that they can remain comfortable in their sin.

They do not realize that their sin is destroying their souls and the souls of their children. They accuse of hate but do not realize that our warnings would save their eternal souls and free them from the bondage of sin that enslaves them. Jesus Christ did not just die for sins to just forgive us and then we are free to do what we want. No. Jesus came to free us from sin so that we can inherit eternal life and be filled with His Holy Spirit.

Its not yet too late. The Spirit of God is calling all to repentance and to Jesus. You can be saved and be free from sin. DC
