Leviticus Chapter 20
Molech was a god of the children of Ammon similar to Baal and Chemosh of the Moabites. the sacrifice of children were both live sacrifices in which children are killed and offered by fire to the false gods and also the use of children sexually associated with the idolatrous practices of those false religions and priesthoods requiring passing children through fire and using children in such a manner. Idolatry was forbidden to Israel and understandably so. Evil spirits are present in any idol worship or false religion even those that claim Christianity but in name only, not in works. This kind of thing is why God allowed Israel to take over some of the land of Canaan and destroy the occupants. It wasn't just the case of having a difference of opinion or religion, it was the murder, rape and child sacrifice that accompanied idolatry that caused the death penalty to be invoked upon any of Israel that partook of their idolatry and caused the judgment of God to fall upon the nations upon the earth. God usually waited until their iniquity was full and they had come to the point of no return. God has always hated a mixture of truth and idolatry. It should be avoided at all costs.
Magical arts, soothsaying, fortune telling, wizardry, witchcraft are all false religions and substitutes for the real saving power of God. They are an abomination and insult to the real God who created us. They should not be mixed with followers of the real God in any form. The world and Christ are separate, evil and good are not to mingle. This creates a false unity not based on the spirit of God and truth.
Many in these latter days have tried to water down this verse and make it null and void. While it is true that we cannot be holy without being covered by the righteousness of Jesus Christ, our goal should be to live holy and imitate Jesus in our personal lives. Without holiness no one shall see the Lord. Notice also part of this holiness is to follow peace with all men.
Warring and fighting among ourselves is not peace and is not holiness. Holiness begins with the two commandments Jesus gave: Love God with all the heart and soul and love our neighbors as we love ourselves.
To be sanctified is to be separate and apart from sin and set apart to serve the Lord. Sanctification should always follow salvation by grace. Once we come to Christ, the world and its lusts should vanish from our lives.
The world we are not to love is the evil, the spirit of the age, lying, going along with the crowd that follows evil, living our lives apart from the word of God and doing our own thing.
Respect for Father and Mother is still a commandment for us today. We must honor them and respect them. Today we see a world that absolutely has departed from the fear of God and the fear of breaking that particular commandment. Such evil brings a curse upon people according to Malachi.
Adultery incurred the death sentence. Under the grace of Jesus Christ, adultery can be forgiven but it also must be forsaken. Jesus died to save us from sin, not so we can continue in sin and expect to be covered by His blood. We do not put people to death for adultery but eternal death awaits adulterers if they do not repent.
We must wake up to the times we live in and remember God's word. The works of the flesh that defiles us and causes us to not inherit the kingdom of God has not changed. It is the same now as it was when these words were written.
This type of sexual sin was forbidden in both the old and New Testaments. Although Christ is the way out, if we ignore Jesus Christ and do not repent of any sin, we will suffer the loss of our eternal soul. It is sad to think about. In Leviticus 20 we see that any sexual sin is an abomination to God. This starts when we refuse to acknowledge God. Secular humanism is dangerous.
We in the United States and other parts of the world are reaping the fruits of denying our creator back when creation was removed from our school's curriculum and evolution replaced it. We went from that to removing bible reading and prayer from schools. From there we went to allowing abortion in the first few months, then we went to partial birth abortion, then in 2016 we had the supreme court opening the door to marriage between people of the same sex. Now the children are so confused some of them do not know which gender they are. Slowly and sneaky, Satan has deceived us into believing good is evil and evil is good. We now await God's wrath and judgment if we do not repent and turn away from these things. We are seeing even now natural disasters increase, rioting in our streets, an increase in rape and violence, human trafficking increasing and children disappearing without a trace. Baby body parts are being sold by abortion clinics and many other evils are prevailing. Disease is also on the rise. We reap what we sow.
If a person lies carnally with a both a woman and her mother it is a death penalty. This shows how serious this sin was. If it incurred a death penalty in the Old Testament, it would incur eternal death if one did not repent of it.
Human beings are not to lie carnally with any beast or anything that is not human. It is utter confusion and abomination as is man with man and women with women. We are to live and walk in holiness.
Again the Old law stresses holiness and being clean before God. All these sins defile the flesh and separate us from God.
Sexual sins many times cause barrenness but dying childless could mean that they die before they can have children.
When we give ourselves over to sexual sins, we are sinning against our own bodies as well as God who created us to walk holy as He is holy. The land will spew us out. We are like vomit and filth. Disease will kill us and eventually we will destroy ourselves. God made the law for our protection and for our good. To keep His ways especially sexually, we protect ourselves from disease literally but also from spiritual separation from God. These things defile the flesh that is supposed to be a temple of the Holy Spirit.
These commandments are holy, good and will bring us health and salvation. God is good.
These types of sins are the very reason Israel was permitted to destroy and inherit their land. They were not to do as those nations did or God would allow another nation to destroy them. We saw this when God allowed the 70 year Babylonian captivity in the days of Daniel. When Israel desired to pattern after evil nations, God allowed them to be taken over by the same evil nations they wanted to be like.
This shows us the there is a difference between unholy and holy. God is holy. We are unholy but we can be made holy and acceptable to God through faith and obedience to Jesus Christ our savior to make atonement for our sins.
Oh my, it will be worth it all. When we see Jesus.... He has greater things for us than the temporary pleasures of this life.
As Israel was chosen to be God's holy people, those that are cleansed of sin by faith in Jesus Christ also become adopted into the same inheritance as Israel. We are set apart to be God's chosen people by faith. We are not to return to sin and undo what Jesus did on our behalf.
Through the grace of Jesus Christ we live in a different dispensation. We no longer put people to death for these types of sin but preach the gospel to them so that they can choose to be free from sin and live in holiness. If they refuse this good way, we do not bring judgment upon them but leave the judgment to God. At the coming of Christ the 2nd time, judgment will come upon those that do these sins and did not repent and be saved. We are not to bring or usher in judgment ourselves. Israel was allowed as a nation to use the death penalty for sin but the church was never given that kind of authority and it was a mistake to ever think we could. Until the church age ends and the day of grace closes we are to preach the gospel only. We are never given authority to harm one human being. Israel was a nation and had to have law into order to hold sin in check until the coming of Christ. We preach the gospel that allows people to willingly come to Christ for cleansing from sin. God will judge those that desire to continue in sin and ignore the way of salvation. Our job is to just keep preaching until He comes again. Familiar spirits and witchcraft are false
spirits which will harm the soul. We should stay far away from that
stuff and not mix it with Christianity. God's power is holy. The
power of witchcraft and soothsaying is not holy but is done for
material gain, domination or power over others or to deceive them
into thinking they are really from God. It will destroy the souls of
those deceived.
